FLN denies involvement in Nyamagabe bus attack

The FLN Terrorism Unit has denied the attack on a passenger car last weekend, killing two people, including a driver and a passenger, in the Kitabi Sector in Nyamagabe District.

 

At around 8pm on Saturday, June 18, 2022, criminals opened fire on a RITCO bus bound for Rusizi on its way to Kitabi in Nyamagabe, killing a driver and a friend.

 

In the aftermath of the attack, the Rwanda National Police issued a statement saying the perpetrators were suspected of belonging to the FLN rebel group from across the border.

 

The FLN denied responsibility in the killings, which killed two Rwandans.

 

"First of all, we are saddened by the killings and we vehemently deny the allegations in the statement that it was the FLN that carried out the attack because it is well known that it has not been in Rwanda since 2018," the statement said.

 

The group said it is not fighting civilians but attacks the Rwandan army and that the attack should be blamed on the Rwandan army who is protecting the road.

 

The announcement was made by FLN's Deputy Spokesperson, Sous Lieutenant Irambona Steven, on June 19, 2022.

 

The FLN has carried out various attacks in Rwanda and killed various innocents and some have been left permanently disabled.
