FLN rebels shot dead a passenger bus in Nyungwe, killing a driver and a friend and injuring six others.

 

These criminals redeemed this small car in Nyamagabe district and shooting 2 people who were killed and 6 others were injured as reported by the National Police.

 

A statement signed by the Rwanda National Police spokesperson, CP John Bosco Kabera, said that on Saturday afternoon, June 18, 2022, at around 8:00 am, armed criminals suspected of belonging to the 'FLN rebels from across the border fired on a bus in Kitabi Sector in Nyamagabe District on their way to Rusizi.

 

The statement added, "The perpetrators killed the driver and one of passangers, and injured six others who were rushed to Kigeme Hospital and Butare University Hospital, CHUB for treatment."

 

According to IGIHE, the driver was identified as Ibrahim Issa. He used to work for Ritco. The car was reportedly leaving Kigali in the early hours of the morning.

 

When he arrived in Muhanga District, he had to stop because his tire was in trouble, and his colleagues helped him change it and continue the journey.

 

An IGIHE source said that at around 8 a.m., he was called by one of the passangers of the vehicle, who told him he had been "shot" and that "Issa was dead."

 

After the driver was shot, the car immediately lost the road and fell to the side of the road. Security forces rushed to the scene and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital.

 

One of the drivers in the car in front of the Issa said that the bus was shot while entering Nyungwe about five kilometers from the Kitabi Center.
